Objectives

The Partnership in Automation and Control Training (PACT) exists between Newcastle University and a consortium of companies in the UK chemicals, process, oil and energy sectors of industry. It is through the PACT that the University endeavours to meet the sectors' needs for Continuing Professional Development (CPD) in process automation.

The aim of the PACT is to enable companies in those sectors to maintain and improve their competitive edge by creating a supply of personnel who understand and are able to effectively apply both classical and modern automation techniques.

Involvement of the PACT members in the Integrated Graduate Development Scheme (IGDS) is fundamental.  They are all involved, to varying extents in management of the Scheme, contributing to its delivery in terms of teaching and supporting materials, and sponsoring delegates (IGDS speak for students).  That involvement underpins the relevance and usefulness of the Scheme.

Note that participation in the IGDS is not restricted to delegates from the PACT
