Student Guide to Student Life

What sort of student would you be? Spend time with current university students in your own school/college to find out how students manage their money, and the pros and cons of university life.

Discover Days

An opportunity for you to discover more about a subject you are interested in. This event is a great opportunity to see what University is like, learn more about your subject area and university study.

School/College Talks

University staff visit your school/college to deliver talks on a range of different Higher Education topics. A full list of topics can be viewed on our Graduate Ambassador webpages.

Accommodation Tours

Led by undergraduate students, these walking tours give prospective students the opportunity to visit both catered and self-catered accommodation at Newcastle University.

Student Shadowing

An opportunity to find out more about the different degree programmes available at Newcastle University. You will attend a lecture, visit University facilities and take part in a Question and Answer session.

Campus Tours

The opportunity to have a look round the campus and see facilities such as the students' Union, the Library, the Sports Centre and a Halls of Residence. The tour is led by current University students so you can ask all the questions you may have about student life at Newcastle University.

University Visit Day

A day of talks, visits and tours on campus to help you find out more about the University and the subjects on offer before you apply.

Bitesize Uni (residential event)

A three-day, two-night event designed to help students prepare for University life and find out more about the different subjects available. Students will meet current University students and stay in campus accommodation.

Higher Education Advisers' and Teachers' Conference (HEAT)

A joint event run by Newcastle, Northumbria and Sunderland Universities that aims to inform delegates about topical issues relating to HE progression. The Conference is aimed at teachers, tutors, Careers Advisors and other professionals involved in the provision of HE guidance to students.

Higher Education Advisers' and Teachers' Conference: Huddersfield

For the first time we are delivering our HEAT Conference as an outreach event for those that wish to attend but are unable to make our on-campus conference. The programme is aimed at staff who have responsibility for providing information, advice and guidance to students on issues relating to Higher Education. Sessions will include how to write an effective UCAS reference, detailed information about financial support arrangements and an insight into the current graduate employment market.

Teachers' Toolkit

Teachers' Toolkit provides an innovative and extensive range of practical, online resources for teachers; including short interactive exercises, images and videos developed by staff at the University. It also provides a full list of all of the events taking place across the University campus and in schools and colleges.

Parent and Carer Conference: On Campus

The Parent and Carer Conference can help parents and carers support young people in the decisions they will have to make about university. The event will cover many topics including student finance, accommodation, student wellbeing and graduate employability. There will also be an opportunity to talk to University staff and current undergraduate students.

Understanding University, An Evening for Parents and Carers: Huddersfield

For the first time we are delivering an outreach version of our Parent and Carer Conference in order to reach parents and carers that are outside of the North East region. Our event will give you all the up to date information you need to support your son or daughter as they make important decisions about Higher Education.

Student Finance - The Real Deal

This event will help you and your child to understand how the new student finance package works by providing relevant information about Higher Education funding. It will enable you all to make an informed decision about going to university. The event is part of ‘National Student Finance Day’ and is aimed at parents and carers of students in Years 11, 12 and 13 or currently at college.
