ACE Days (Aiming for a College Education)

Aiming for a College Education (ACE) is an event for year 10 students which aims to increase awareness of and raise aspirations toward higher education. Pupils work in groups taking part in a range of interactive sessions related to university, and are assisted by a current university student throughout the day.
Intended Learner Outcomes
- Understand the different motivations and pathways taken by students and recognise the long term benefits of investing in HE
- Begin to understand the types of attitudes, skills and abilities that are required for success in higher level study
- Have contact with a range of people from the HE sector including students and staff
- Be able to recognise that the choices they make in school and post-16 are related to their progression into FE/HE and their chosen career

- 9.45am – Arrival and icebreakers
- 10.00am – Welcome and Introduction
- 10.45am – Group Activities
- Managing your timetable
- Managing your money
- University articulate
- 11.45am – Lunch and campus tour activities
- 1.15pm – Design your own university
- 1.50pm – University Challenge Quiz
- 2.15pm Evaluation and depart
