An interactive game delivered in school, where pupils can choose a route around Newcastle University campus and take part in fun activities and quizzes depending on the campus buildings they would like to find out more about.

Provides information to younger students about what, why, where and when people study at university. The session also encourages students to consider HE as a future option.

Crash Course Quiz

An interactive quiz that invites students to consider a range of university courses. The session involves matching celebrities to the courses they studied, guessing if courses are real or not and a ‘course scramble.

Invent a Course!

A group work activity in which students work together to design their ideal course. They will think of modules to study, celebrity lecturers and what skills the course will provide.

Student-Build

The group will draw a student and will then work together to share ideas on what the student might do, look like and think about.

As part of the Raising Aspirations Partnership, Newcastle, Northumbria and Sunderland Universities’ will attend events for students under the age of 16 on a joint representation basis.

Joint Representation - Three universities in one place

We will provide you with a fully trained member of university staff who will bring a stand and a booklet outlining what university is and the options available to students should they want to go. They will answer any questions from students, parents and teachers and can offer impartial advice about Higher Education.

Students will gain an insight into life as an undergraduate from current Newcastle University students. The programme is flexible and can be tailored to fit into any lesson time available and include a range of different topic such as:

A superb introduction into HE, outlining the benefits of further study. The session gives a general overview of university study and life, addresses some of the common concerns students may have and provides guidance on key decisions that students will need to make.

Bright Futures

This session will broaden students’ perception of what university can offer them, not only through study but through the university experience as a whole. It also highlights a range of transferable skills that university can develop and gives examples of graduate success stories.

An interactive game in which students work in a team to build up their CV with the skills required to gain a graduate job.

A fun way for students to practice their personal statement writing skills in groups. Students will put the information from the Personal Statement presentation into practice, use recommended vocabulary and write the personal statement in the correct format.

Student Life

Students will discover what awaits them at university and learn how to effectively make the transition from school/college. An insight into life as a student including accommodation, societies, Freshers’ Week and more from the perspective of recent graduates or current students.

Simulates the kind of income and expenditure students will experience during their time at university. Students will practise planning and managing their finances.
