Investigate Your Future

Choosing GCSE options can be a daunting task. Some pupils don’t even know how to start this process. Working through a series of activities with current University students, pupils will discover their key skills and will start to realise what really interests and motivates them. They will receive information about how to choose GCSE options and about the various routes they could take, post 16.

Higher Education Advisers' and Teachers' Conference (HEAT)

A joint event run by Newcastle, Northumbria and Sunderland Universities that aims to inform delegates about topical issues relating to HE progression. The Conference is aimed at teachers, tutors, Careers Advisers and other professionals involved in the provision of HE guidance to students.

Higher Education Advisers' and Teachers' Conference: Outreach

We are delivering our HEAT Conference as outreach events for those that wish to attend but are unable to make our on-campus conference. The programme is aimed at staff who have responsibility for providing information, advice and guidance to students on issues relating to Higher Education. Sessions will include how to write an effective UCAS reference, detailed information about financial support arrangements and an insight into the current graduate employment market.

Teachers' Toolkit

Teachers' Toolkit provides an innovative and extensive range of practical, online resources for teachers; including short interactive exercises, images and videos developed by staff at the University. It also provides a full list of all of the events taking place across the University campus and in schools and colleges.

The Parent and Carer Conference can help parents and carers support young people in the decisions they will have to make about university. The event will cover many topics including student finance, accommodation, student wellbeing and graduate employability. There will also be an opportunity to talk to University staff and current undergraduate students.

Understanding University, An Evening for Parents and Carers: Outreach

We are delivering outreach versions of our Parent and Carer Conference in order to reach parents and carers that are outside of the North East region. Our events will give you all the up to date information you need to support your son or daughter as they make important decisions about Higher Education.

Student Finance - The Real Deal

This event will help you and your child to understand how the new student finance package works by providing relevant information about Higher Education funding. It will enable you all to make an informed decision about going to university. The event is part of ‘National Student Finance Day’ and is aimed at parents and carers of students in Years 11, 12 and 13 or currently at college.
