How to apply

If you decide that the PARTNERS Programme Supported Entry Route is for you, then you need to follow a number of steps to make your application.

Making your Application
1. Look at the eligibility criteria and/or contact us The Student Recruitment Team to discuss whether you are eligible to apply to the Programme. (NB: Please wait until after 5 September 2011 to do this, once the 2012 PARTNERS eligibility criteria will have been confirmed) Make sure that you do this as early as possible!
2. If you are eligible, you need to complete a PARTNERS Programme Supported Entry Route Application Form (available from September 2011).

Make sure all parts of the form are completed - both you and your parent/carer need to sign it.

Please note: The PARTNERS Programme is limited to students who are recognised as having 'home status'. Your home status must have been confirmed by the Home Office prior to applying to the PARTNERS Programme.

3. Complete your UCAS form in the usual way. In addition, enter a capital 'P' next to the PARTNERS degree programme(s) you wish to apply to, in the 'Further details' section'. Applying for a PARTNERS offer will not affect your application to other universities. The 'P' enables our admissions staff to identify you as a PARTNERS Programme candidate. You can apply for up to five courses at Newcastle University through the PARTNERS Programme. Your eligibility assessment will apply to all courses you have applied for*.
4. Give your PARTNERS Programme application form, along with a copy of your completed UCAS form, to your teacher/tutor so that they can complete the reference and send the forms to us. The deadlines are: 15 October 2011 for Medicine & Dentistry applications 15 January 2012 for all other applications.

The person to give your form to will normally be the person who completes your UCAS reference, or the named PARTNERS contact in your school/college. To check who this is e-mail us, or call 0191 222 6094.

Please make sure that your teacher/tutor sends us your form straight-away to avoid any delay in your application.

5. Student Recruitment Team staff will consider your application and make a decision as to whether you will be provisionally accepted onto the Programme, based on the eligibility criteria. We will write to you to tell you whether you have been provisionally accepted onto the Programme. If you are not accepted, you may still be eligible for the Newcastle Guaranteed Offer Scheme.
6. If you are provisionally accepted, your UCAS form will then be considered by admissions staff in the relevant subject area(s). They will make the final decision as to whether to make you a PARTNERS offer. If an offer is made, it will include successful completion of the Assessed Summer School and associated work and this will mean you have been formally accepted onto the PARTNERS Programme

Please note: in order to take advantage of the PARTNERS offer, you must make the PARTNERS offer your firm choice (CF) through UCAS when you make your final decisions in the Spring. You may only make your PARTNERS offer your insurance choice (CI) if your CF is for another course at Newcastle University.

7. You will then be invited to attend a number of PARTNERS Programme Events, including the compulsory Assessed Summer School and associated work (2 - 24 July 2012) You must be available for the duration of the Summer School. We strongly advise you to be available afterwards to enable you to complete the assessed project work .

* Business Accounting and Finance (NN14) does not take part in the PARTNERS programme.
