Sci-Art is a new and exciting area, bringing scientists and artists together
to share ideas and work on common problems.
PEALS has promoted many such partnerships and projects, including our Writer in Residence scheme and the Memory and Forgetting project, because we think that Sci-Art can promote public engagement with science, as well as raising important questions about how science affects our sense of self and our relationship with the world.
Our most recent project has been with the Arts Council's ARTISTS INSIGHTS programme. Artist Elio Caccavale joined PEALS for an "Interact" placement over a six month period from September 2007.. The programme aims to unlock artists’ professional potential and develop the arts throughout England by using innovative placements in research and industry environments. The managing agency is Dott 07.
INTERACT collaborated with creative producer Andrew Chetty who developed the Dott 07 exhibition ‘Our Cyborg Futures: Me or Machine’, looking at the shrinking divide between us and the technology we use.
