PEALS welcomes a new Research Associate to its team.

Edmund Coleman-Fountain joins Janice McLaughlin to work with her on her ESRC project entitled Embodied Selves in Transition: Disabled Young Bodies.

Edmund’s background is in sociology and he has recently completed a PhD at Newcastle University in the School of Geography, Politics and Sociology. His thesis was entitled ‘Making Sexual Selves: A Qualitative Study of Lesbian and Gay Youth’ and looked at the construction of sexual identities amongst a group of young lesbian and gay people living in and around the North-East.

His interests are primarily in the areas of youth and identity, incorporating theories of self and embodiment in order to explore the ways in which young people make sense of their selves and everyday lives.
