Simon Woods appointed to National Research Ethics Advisory Panel

We are pleased to announce the appointment of Simon Woods, PEALS Deputy Executive Director, to the newly established National Research Ethics Advisory Panel.

The panel has been established at the request of the Department of Health to offer authoritative central advice to the National Research Ethics Service (NRES). It will offer strategic leadership in various areas, including service development; policy; training; ethical argument; quality assurance; and stakeholder involvement.

Simon has had a long relationship with NRES, serving as a member and vice-chair of an NHS research Ethics Committee and providing National training for REC members and researchers in research ethics, including the research implications of the law in such areas as the Human Tissue Act and the Mental Capacity Act.
