Research

The Newcastle PET Centre has been set-up to provide non-invasive imaging facilities for the University and its partners.

The PET-CT scanner provides excellent quality imaging and there are additional features required for:

  • radiotherapy planning
  • injection of CT contrast agents
  • respiratory gating

We perform studies using commercially available PET tracers. The tracers currently available are:

  • 18F-Fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG)
  • 18F-Fluorothymidine (FLT)
  • 18F-Fluoride
