Research

The Newcastle PET Centre has been set-up to provide non-invasive imaging facilities for the University and its partners.

The PET-CT scanner provides excellent quality imaging and there are additional features required for:

radiotherapy planning
injection of CT contrast agents
respiratory gating

We perform studies using commercially available PET tracers. The tracers currently available are:

18F-Fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG)
18F-Fluorothymidine (FLT)
18F-Fluoride

PET research studies within the University include:

cancer research
ageing research
radiochemistry research
