This programme aims to provide an interdisciplinary training in scientific principles necessary for understanding the interactions of agriculture with the environment, with an emphasis on sustainability and the ecological consequences of unsound management.
Through the taught modules and assignments you develop a flexible, technical knowledge and skills base, which is essential for a career in research, development or extension relating to problems of sustainability in farming systems, environmental management and rural development.

Preferably an upper-second-class or first-class Honours degree, or an international equivalent, in a relevant science discipline, eg biology, zoology, environmental science, physical geography. We also consider applicants who have a second-class Honours degree.
Applicants whose first language is not English require IELTS 6.5, TOEFL 90 (Internet-based), or equivalent. However, applicants with an IELTS score between 5.5 and 6.5, or equivalent, will be accepted on condition that they undertake an appropriate pre-sessional English language course at INTO Newcastle University.

There is no closing date for this programme. However, international students applying for September 2013 entry should apply by Friday 12 July 2013 to ensure that they have time to put appropriate arrangements in place.
Please note: As a formal condition of the offer to study at Newcastle University, students from outside the UK/EU are required to pay a deposit of £1,500 or submit an official letter of sponsorship for their chosen programme. The deposit payment is non refundable, but will be deducted from tuition fees upon registration.
