This programme is aimed at new and recent graduates from the UK and overseas who are interested in a career in accountancy or who want to improve their employability by developing a good understanding of finance, accounting and business.
The programme draws on the close links between Newcastle University Business School and the Institute for Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW). Successful completion of the programme will lead to the award of the Graduate Diploma and the ICAEW’s Certificate in Finance, Accounting and Business. This programme provides credit for seven of the 15 professional papers required to qualify as a Chartered Accountant.
You take compulsory modules that cover: fundamentals of accounting; principles of taxation; auditing theory and practice; law for accounting practice; business strategy; business information and finance; personal and professional skills.

Normally, a second-class Honours degree, or higher, or equivalent in any subject. Evidence of mathematical ability is also required, although no prior experience of accounting or finance is assumed. Applicants whose first language is not English normally require IELTS 6.5 or equivalent, with no less than 6.0 in any element.
The UK Border Agency (UKBA) has rules for international students regarding minimum English language requirements.

There is no closing date for this programme. However, international students applying for September 2013 entry should apply by Friday 12 July 2013 to ensure that they have time to put appropriate arrangements in place.
Please note: As a formal condition of the offer to study at Newcastle University, students from outside the UK/EU are required to pay a deposit of £1,500 or submit an official letter of sponsorship for their chosen programme. The deposit payment is non refundable, but will be deducted from tuition fees upon registration.
