This programme provides opportunities for graduates with first degrees in a range of scientific and engineering disciplines to enhance their knowledge of the water environment and its management in the context of climate change, through theoretical, practical and computational (informatics) training. It aims to train a new breed of engineer capable of solving hydrological and water resources problems with the understanding that past hydrological behaviour may no longer be a suitable guide for the future. This training is quantitative and very relevant to the needs of today’s water industry.
This degree is accredited as meeting the requirements for Further Learning for a Chartered Engineer (CEng) for candidates who have already acquired an Accredited CEng (Partial) BEng (Hons) undergraduate first degree or an Accredited IEng (Full) BEng / BSc (Hons) undergraduate first degree. The programme is also accredited by the Chartered Institution of Water and Environmental Management (CIWEM) and the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS).

A 2:2 Honours degree, or international equivalent, in engineering (any branch), environmental science, physics, geography, mathematics, chemistry, geology or a similar subject.
Applicants whose first language is not English require IELTS 6.5, TOEFL 90 (Internet-based), or equivalent.

Applications are accepted up to the September the course starts. However, international students applying for September 2013 entry should apply by Friday 12 July 2013 to ensure that they have time to put appropriate arrangements in place.
Please note: As a formal condition of the offer to study at Newcastle University, students from outside the UK/EU are required to pay a deposit of £1,500 or submit an official letter of sponsorship for their chosen programme. The deposit payment is non refundable, but will be deducted from tuition fees upon registration.
