This new programme is aimed at anyone interested in pursuing careers in sectors concerned with international development, international aid agencies and the education sector in developing countries. It will also appeal to anyone with an interest in development issues, government policy and the reduction of poverty using entrepreneurial ideas.
The MA is designed for graduates from education, economics, politics, geography or business backgrounds who wish to develop an understanding of international development issues in education. Graduates from other disciplines will also be considered as will those who do not have a degree but relevant experience.

An upper-second-class Honours degree (2.1 or above) or equivalent. Candidates who do not hold a 2:1 or above may be considered if they have relevant work experience, good English language and very good references.
Applicants whose first language is not English require IELTS 6.5 with a minimum of 6.0 in writing, TOEFL 90 (Internet-based), or equivalent.

The UK Border Agency (UKBA) has rules for international students regarding minimum English language requirements.

There is no closing date for this programme. However, international students applying for September 2013 entry should apply by Friday 12 July 2013 to ensure that they have time to put appropriate arrangements in place.
Please note: As a formal condition of the offer to study at Newcastle University, students from outside the UK/EU are required to pay a deposit of £1,500 or submit an official letter of sponsorship for their chosen programme. The deposit payment is non refundable, but will be deducted from tuition fees upon registration.
