Research Areas 

Our research strengths are focused in a number of groups or themes. Each of these involves externally funded research, international collaboration and the active involvement of doctoral students. There are opportunities for research students to study in any of the disciplines outlined below. 

Research in the marketing group focuses on a wide range of aspects of consumer behaviour.  Ongoing projects and interests cover the UK, European and international contexts.

Research Degree Training and Skills Development

Our Humanities and Social Sciences Graduate School provide training in professional/key skills and research techniques, support personal development and host postgraduate events.

+Entrance Requirements

An upper second-class Honours degree and preferably a Master's or an international equivalent in a relevant subject.

Applicants whose first language is not English require IELTS 7.0 or equivalent, with a minimum of 6.5 in written English, 6.5 in speaking, and a minimum 6.0 in all other sub skills.

Our INTO Newcastle University Centre can provide extra tuition to help you meet the University's English language requirements.

The UK Border Agency (UKBA) has rules for international students regarding minimum English language requirements.

There is no closing date for this programme. However, international students applying for September 2013 entry should apply by Friday 12 July 2013 to ensure that they have time to put appropriate arrangements in place.

Please note: As a formal condition of the offer to study at Newcastle University, students from outside the UK/EU are required to pay a deposit of £1,500 or submit an official letter of sponsorship for their chosen programme. The deposit payment is non refundable, but will be deducted from tuition fees upon registration.
