Programme Overview

This innovative, dual award programme provides the opportunity to study two highly respected Universities while experiencing two well renowned European cities.

You will receive an MSc in Operations and Supply Chain Management from Newcastle University and an MSc in Technology Operations Management University of Groningen, in the Netherlands

The key feature of this distinctive programme is its focus on operations management in different contexts of culture and business environment.

The programme aims to produce graduates with the necessary specialist knowledge and skills appropriate to pursue careers in operations management, technology management, supply chain management, general management, and consulting.

You are taught in English and selected workshops are delivered jointly by academics from both universities.  

+Modules


Semester one is undertaken at Newcastle University Business School and Semester two is undertaken at Faculty of Economics and Business at the University of Groningen.

The joint dissertation involves undertaking a research project on a topic that you have studied during the programme.

Supervision for this is managed jointly across the institutions and you can elect to be based either at Groningen or Newcastle. You receive support and guidance from two supervisors – one from Groningen and one from Newcastle.

+Entrance Requirements

An upper-second-class Honours degree, or equivalent, in a relevant discipline. Candidates with a second-class Honours degree may be considered if they demonstrate relevant work experience. Since this programme is taught in English, no knowledge of the Dutch language is required.

Applicants whose first language is not English require IELTS 6.5 or equivalent, with a minimum of 6.0 in all other sub skills. Please note that students from the University of Groningen are exempt from the IELTS requirements. 

Our INTO Newcastle University Centre can provide extra tuition to help you meet the University's English language requirements.

The UK Border Agency (UKBA) has rules for international students regarding minimum English language requirements.

+How to Apply

When applying for this programme, please select ‘Newcastle and Groningen Dual Masters in Operations Management’  as the programme of study on the University’s online application form.

There is no closing date for this programme. However, international students applying for September 2013 entry should apply by Friday 12 July 2013 to ensure that they have time to put appropriate arrangements in place.

Please note: As a formal condition of the offer to study at Newcastle University, students from outside the UK/EU are required to pay a deposit of £1,500 or submit an official letter of sponsorship for their chosen programme. The deposit payment is non refundable, but will be deducted from tuition fees upon registration.

+Further Information

The duration of the programme is 17 months' full-time study. If you start your studies in September 2013, you would complete the programme by January/February 2015.
