Programme Overview
This specialist multidisciplinary programme will address the emergent challenges to build capacity for analysis, strategy and policy making for regional development and spatial planning. Individuals and institutions in the public, private and voluntary/community sectors will be studied within an international context.
The programme aims to:
• provide knowledge and understanding of contemporary regional development, governance and spatial planning theory, policy and practice in an international context
• develop practical skills and capabilities required to engage, research and participate in the emergent regional development and spatial planning agendas.
You will have the opportunity to carry out UK- and internationally-based fieldwork providing valuable practical project experience.

+Entrance Requirements
Normally at least a second-class Honours degree in a relevant social science subject. Relevant subjects include economics, geography, law, management, planning, and politics.
Applicants whose first language is not English require IELTS 6.5, TOEFL 90 (Internet-based) or equivalent.
Our INTO Newcastle University Centre can provide extra tuition to help you meet the University's English language requirements.
The UK Border Agency (UKBA) has rules for international students regarding minimum English language requirements.

There is no closing date for this programme. However, international students applying for September 2013 entry should apply by Friday 12 July 2013 to ensure that they have time to put appropriate arrangements in place.
Please note: As a formal condition of the offer to study at Newcastle University, students from outside the UK/EU are required to pay a deposit of £1,500 or submit an official letter of sponsorship for their chosen programme. The deposit payment is non refundable, but will be deducted from tuition fees upon registration.
