Programme Overview

This programme is designed for both practising professionals and new graduates to develop and apply advanced skills and understanding to the planning, management and operation of transport systems. The degree meets the academic requirements for the Transport Planning Professional Qualification. See www.ciht.org.uk for further details.

The Postgraduate Diploma is delivered alongside the School’s transport MSc programmes, normally in a blocked format. Taught modules are supplemented by research seminars, site visits and engagement with local industry and practitioners from professional institutions.

After completion of the taught modules, you undertake a field trip to France and Germany (or elsewhere as circumstances allow), to examine how transport systems operate in less familiar environments. You will also have the opportunity to attend lectures and presentations on transport research and practice in a contrasting context.

Please note that you will be given the opportunity to transfer to one of the MSc programmes in Transport upon satisfactory performance on the taught modules.
