With our ncl+ scheme you have a range of opportunities to develop your transferable skills. This can range from coaching a sports team, to working on a student newspaper or leading a student society.
Whatever your future plans, these skills will enrich your CV and give you practical, enjoyable experiences.
The ncl+ Award recognises your extra-curricular activities and achievements on your degree transcript. Not only does this feel good, but it supports you in developing skills that employers value.
The Award covers almost everything that you can actively engage in outside degree study. It's open to all Newcastle University students.
Our Newcastle Work Experience Scheme enables you to undertake paid work experience when you want it - schedule it in term or vacation time to suit you. Other initiatives include JobsOC (Jobs on Campus) that matches you with temporary work assignments to aide your professional development.
If you’re interested in starting your own business, no matter what your idea is, Rise Up can provide the support you need to achieve your goals.
We can help you to:
- explore and develop your ideas with the support of our coaches
- access the resources you need to start and grow your business
- make connections with other entrepreneurs, business professionals and investors.
Volunteering is an easy way to develop skills and add to your postgraduate experience, as well as benefitting the local community. Student Community Action Newcastle (SCAN) co-ordinates volunteering opportunities on and off campus, with over 200 activities available each year.
