EPSRC PhD Studentship – Run Time Identification of Architectural Mismatches
- School of Computing Science
- Reference Code: CS004
Closing Date: 30th April 2009
Details:
Supervisor: Dr Cristina Gacek
School: School of Computing Science
Sponsor: EPSRC
In this PhD project we will develop mechanisms for run time mismatch diagnosis and isolation. More and more complex software systems are being built from existing components. Consequently, the integrity of the systems increasingly depends on the integrity of the components and their interconnections. Architectural mismatches are design faults that occur when assumptions on the services provided and required by architectural elements do not match. The aim of this PhD project is to support the architecting of dependable systems by addressing architectural mismatches at run time. It focuses on run time mismatch diagnosis and isolation. This encompasses determining the cause of an error caused by mismatch (nature and location), identifying the architectural elements that failed and how they failed.
Newcastle’s School of Computing Science is one of the UK's leading schools of computing science. We carry out exciting, cutting-edge research in a range of topics. More information can be found at the School’s research pages.
