Internet and Wi-fi: keeping in touch with friends and family
We have a high speed Internet connection across campus through a network of about 40 computer clusters (you can also use your own laptop to connect).
Postgraduate rooms in University accommodation have Internet connection. Wi-fi is also widely available across campus.
Helpdesk staff provide assistance on using the University’s computer network and can help fix any IT-related problems you may have.
Student homepage
When you log onto a University computer, you'll see the Newcastle student home page. It provides links to University services and keeps you up-to-date with the latest news. You can customise this page so it links to:
- the University services you use the most
- your favourite external pages (eg facebook or news websites).
If you have your own e-mail address, you can use this during your time at Newcastle. You'll also get a University e-mail account and you should check this regularly: this is how we'll keep in touch with you.
