Library Services at Newcastle University

The quality of our library provision is consistently rated as excellent:

The Robinson Library is the main campus library and is open 24-hours a day, seven days a week in term time. It contains:

  • Over one million books and thousands of print journal titles
  • local, national and international databases
  • over 500, 000 e-books
  • seating for over 2,000 people in a range of study environments: silent/quiet study, group and social study spaces
  • over 200 networked computers and a laptop loan service
  • laptop docking stations and wireless connectivity
  • Special Collections that range in scope from rare and historic books, manuscripts and maps to woodblocks and illustrations dating from the mid-15th to 21st century
  • internet cafe, the Learning Lounge

The Walton Medical and Dental Library and the Law Library are located in their respective academic schools. They provide extensive resources for students in those subjects.

A team of Faculty Liaison Librarians have specialist subject knowledge. They deliver inductions for all new students and are available throughout your studies to provide advice and guidance.
