Students' Union
The Students' Union is run by students and offers a range of services and facilities to help you enjoy your time at University. An £8m refurbishment programme to improve the Union's service to its student members will take place between November 2010 and September 2011.
The Union Building has the best social reputation on campus. It hosts a variety of events including gigs and an annual CAMRA Real Ale Festival.
It's a great place to enjoy a drink with friends or get a bite to eat. The on-site shops make it easy to pick up study essentials between lectures.

The Union Building is also home to:
- over 140 student societies. The Postgraduate and Mature Student Society provides a programme of social and cultural events.
- The Courier, the student newspaper
- Newcastle Student Radio
- Athletic Union, which coordinates about 57 sports clubs
The Students’ Union has:
- a Student Advice Centre
- an evening minibus service to take students home on weekday evenings
- a community volunteering scheme, Student Communication Action (SCAN)
