Modules for Advanced International Business and Management, MA/MSc
In addition to the programme overview, the information below details the modules you can expect to study as part of this postgraduate degree. Please be aware that programme modules do change and therefore may differ for your year of entry.
Compulsory modules
Semester one is undertaken at Newcastle University Business School where you study the following modules:
- NBS8045 The International Business Environment
- NBS8061 Managing across Cultures
- NBS8078 Foundations of Business Strategy
- NBS8110 Strategic Perspectives of HRM in the Global Context
- NBS8268 Quantitative Methods for Business Research
- NBS8515 Marketing Research for Dual Award (Semester 1)
These following modules are delivered by the University of Groningen in semester two where you study:
- GRON101 International Business Strategy
- GRON102 Foreign Direct Investment and Trade
- GRON103 International Entrepreneurship
- GRON104 Comparative Corporate Governance
- GRON105 Competing in and from Emerging Economies
- GRON106 Research Seminar for MSc IB & M
Whilst in Groningen candidates will select one elective module (10 credits, 5ECTS) from a list to be provided annually by the Degree Programme Director.

The compulsory dissertation will be taken over semester 3 of Year 1 and Semester 1 of Year 2 and will be jointly supervised and delivered by Newcastle University and the University of Groningen. Students will have the choice of where to undertake their dissertation.
