Compulsory modules
All candidates shall take one of the following 20 credit compulsory modules/module combinations:

English Language Pathway
Candidates shall take 40 credits from the following compulsory modules:

- SEL8161 Computational Linguistics
- SEL8163 The Sociolinguistics of Language and Society
- SEL8361 The Social History of English
- SEL8044 English Name Studies
- SEL8639 Ethno-Linguistic Variation
- SEL8328 Extended Study
Language Acquisition Pathway
Candidates shall take 60 credits from the following compulsory modules:
- ALT8094 Core Issues in Second Language Acquisition
- SEL8040 Neurocognition of Language Development
- CCC8090 Intro to Psycholinguistics
- SEL8643 Introduction to Second Language Acquisition
- SEL8338 Phonological Interfaces in Second Language Acquisition

European Languages Pathway
Candidates shall take 20 credits from the following compulsory modules:
