Environmental Engineering MSc

I was lucky enough to have the opportunity of participating in the MSc Environmental Engineering course through the strong links developed between Newcastle University and my employer, Severn Trent. It was clearly recognised that commercial opportunities for the Company would develop from individuals with a strong technical background.

I undertook the course on a part-time basis. This had the disadvantages of trying to fit it into everyday life, with work and family commitments, but the advantage of flexibility due to the modular nature of the course. The content was directly relevant to my work place, and also provided a wider knowledge of environmental engineering disciplines.

I thoroughly enjoyed the course from start to finish, mainly due to practical basis of the course content and the quality of the tutoring staff. One of the highlights was the module Environmental Engineering for Developing Countries.

Since the MSc I have changed employers and moved to Entec, an Environmental and Engineering Consultancy. This qualification has certainly enhanced my CV, and also contributed to my application to achieve the status of Chartered Water and Environmental Manager and Chartered Environmentalist.
