It was very easy to interact with people in the department and the university in general and I made a lot of friends from all over the world.
Living in Newcastle
I lived in South Gosforth which was very nice and quiet especially for students with families. Shopping can be cheap if you know your way around.
I liked the campus, the city and the river. The Metro made it easy to go from one place to the other. I enjoyed visiting Northumberland when the weather was nice.
International Advice
Enjoy your time there and make the most of it by making friends.
Best Thing
The best thing about my time at Newcastle was the high class research environment and being able to learn from world class experts.
