Student Safety
The University has a friendly and supportive atmosphere and we take the safety of our students very seriously. To ensure you enjoy a safe and supportive environment on campus, we have:
- cross-campus CCTV
- a safety minibus to take students home on weekday evenings
- security staff on duty across campus at all times
Student Wellbeing publish an emergency contact list for out-of-hours help.
Safe city
Newcastle is a very student-friendly city, with safe and accessible public transport and a strong focus on maintaining a safe and vibrant city centre.
Newcastle is currently ranked 8th in the Complete University Guide's Safety and Security Table of the 20 biggest university cities in England and Wales, published in July 2012.
This message is echoed by Safe Newcastle, which confirms that Newcastle is a very safe city by comparison to other cities of its size. Safe Newcastle is a partnership of local organisations which works closely with local universities to ensure issues concerning students in our city are understood and met.
