This programme equips you with the skills and knowledge to design, build and extend the Internet infrastructure and to design a variety of distributed applications in the fields of scientific computing, electronic retailing, home banking, and information and service brokerage, to name just a few.
You take taught modules (75 credits), a group project (15 credits) and an individual project (90 credits).
The taught modules typically include: Internet programming; information management; system security; enterprise distributed computing; system design; system validation; distributed algorithms; and recent developments in the Internet and web.
The focus of the six-month individual project is normally a system design and implementation project for networked computing. Opportunities exist for undertaking your project with industry, and our students have completed projects for a number of well-known IT companies (eg BT, HP, SAGE, Prism Technologies, Broadmedia Technologies).
