This programme aims to equip you with the theoretical knowledge and practical experience to embark on a career as a design or development engineer in the field of communications and signal processing, and to develop transferable skills in research and knowledge acquisition.

Programme Description

You take four compulsory modules (60 credits), optional modules (30 credits), course work (10 credits) and an individual project with dissertation (80 credits). Compulsory modules cover: advanced communication systems; data communications; radio wave engineering; and digital signal processing. Optional modules may include: digital electronics; optoelectronics; telecommunication networks; design of VLSI systems; computer vision and multimedia. Assessment is by written examination at the end of each semester, course work, and a dissertation based on a project conducted in association with industry or one of the research groups.

Entrance Requirements

A second-class BEng Honours degree, or equivalent, in electrical and electronic engineering, electronic communications, computer engineering or a related subject. Applicants whose first language is not English require IELTS 6.0, TOEFL 79 (Internet-based) or 550 (paper-based), or equivalent.
