Aims

This programme aims to provide graduates with theoretical knowledge and practical training in enabling technologies relevant to mobile and pervasive computing, which will undoubtedly play a dominant role within an emerging information society. It also equips you with a wide range of transferable skills in research and knowledge acquisition.

Programme Description

The programme combines leading research and teaching expertise in mobile communications, embedded computer systems and security and biometrics.

You take compulsory modules (100 credits) in: simulation of wireless communications (course work); wireless sensor network project (course work); wireless networks; data communication systems; computer networks; design of asynchronous and low-power systems; DSP project (course work); Real-Time Computer Systems (includes course work); biometrics and recognition. You also complete an individual project (80 credits).

Entrance Requirements

Normally a second-class BEng Honours degree, or equivalent, in electrical and electronic engineering, electronic communications, computer engineering or a related subject. Applicants whose first language is not English should hold IELTS 6.0, TOEFL 79 (Internet-based) or 550 (paper-based), or equivalent.
