Aims

This MSc is designed for graduates with an accounting, economics or finance background who wish to develop their understanding of financial issues with an emphasis on modelling, forecasting and derivatives.  This programme aims to provide participants an opportunity to critically analyse international financial markets, noticeably the management of individual, company and country risk within this context. Attention is also placed on developing a contemporary empirical understanding of the behaviour of international financial markets, alongside providing candidates with the computer and research skills required by employers in this highly competitive sector.

The programme builds on the School's established research strengths in finance and economics and is closely aligned to the MSc in Banking and Finance.

Programme Description

You take compulsory modules (70 credits), optional modules (50 credits) and write a dissertation (60 credits). Compulsory modules typically include: financial derivatives; financial theory and corporate policy; empirical techniques in research; research methods in economics and finance; econometrics. You also select optional modules from topics such as: behavioural finance; central banking; risk modelling; international finance; legal and regulatory aspects of banking supervision; legal and regulatory aspects of money laundering and financial crime.
