E-Business and Information Systems MSc

Aims

This programme is aimed at graduates of all disciplines who are interested in a management career with a strong emphasis on e-business, including e-commerce, e-marketing, e-government and information systems. On completion, we expect graduates to bridge the gap between managers who may lack the technical expertise of computer scientists, and computer scientists who may lack business management expertise.

Programme Description

At the start of the programme you choose a specialist strand from the following:

E-business/e-commerce – international business environment, e-marketing, information systems management.

E-marketing – principles of marketing, e-marketing, international marketing.

E-government – introduction to public service delivery and public administration, IS design and implementation for the public sector, understanding and management of the social context of information technology.

Information systems – information systems, computing research methods, network and web technologies.

You then take a combination of compulsory modules and modules from your chosen strand (90 credits). You also complete a group consultancy project and a research dissertation (90 credits).

Entrance Requirements

Normally an upper-second-class Honours degree or international equivalent. If you hold a non-standard qualification, and/or have relevant work experience, please contact the School and speak to the Degree Programme Director before you apply. Applicants whose first language is not English require IELTS 6.5 or equivalent. No computer programming experience is required.
