Newcastle University subjects among the best in the world

Newcastle University subjects have been named among the world's best in the new QS World Subject rankings.

Sixteen University subjects were rated among the top 200 globally. Topics which performed particularly well are Geography which is in 31st place and Agriculture and Forestry which is in the top 100.

Two topics, Economics and Econometrics and English Language and Literature, have been included in the lists for the first time, with both being placed among the top 200.

Modern Languages, Psychology and Sociology all improved their position from last year and were placed in the top 150.

Professor Nick Wright, Pro Vice Chancellor for Research and Innovation at Newcastle University, said: “Newcastle is a world-class university which prides itself on the quality and impact of its research. We are very pleased that this has been recognised in the QS World Subject Rankings.”


The QS World Subject Rankings looks at more than 3,000 universities and bases its results on three factors. They are academic reputation, employer reputation and citations per paper.
