Praxis – Skills based E-Learning in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

If you are a healthcare professional looking to gain skills in CBT, then this new online training programme developed by Northumberland, Tyne and Wear NHS Foundation Trust is for you. It will give you all you need to get started in the CBT field in a straightforward yet stimulating and highly interactive way, using a step-by-step approach. Praxis CBT has been developed using the CBT Competences Framework and NICE Guidelines for Depression and Anxiety to guide its content. It therefore covers material of relevance to IAPT (High Intensity) trainees or practitioners.

The School of Psychology works in partnership with NTW Trust to validate the modules and you therefore receive 20 credits for each module successfully completed. In order to receive a University Certificate of Credit Achieved and Academic Transcript, you would need to apply for entry onto a stand-alone module, be accepted, enrol at the University and successfully complete the module and associated assessment.

Each of the following modules would be worth 20 credits at Postgraduate level:

  • Fundamentals of CBT - this module must be studied as a pre-requisite for the other three modules
  • CBT for Depression
  • CBT for Anxiety Disorders I
  • CBT for Anxiety Disorders II
