Quality and Standards Sub-Committee (QSSC)

A sub-committee of University Teaching, Learning and Student Experience Committee

This committee was disestablished by UTLSEC on the 6th July 2011 and met for the final time on 7th July 2011. A smaller UTLSEC subgroup, consisting of the QSSC chair, with support from QuILT will ensure that any responsibilities not duplicated elsewhere are carried out in the future. Terms of Reference

a) To consider on behalf of UTLSEC any matters relating to the quality and standards of teaching and learning within the University, monitoring progress, and reporting to UTLSEC on institutional issues and themes arising from:

  • Internal Subject Review reports
  • Annual Monitoring and Review reports from FTLSECs
  • Summaries from FTLSECs of External Examiners' reports
  • Submissions to and reports from the QAA and Professional, Statutory and Regulatory Bodies (PSRBs), and responses from Boards of Studies and FTLSECs
  • Student surveys
  • Other matters relating to quality and standards in teaching and learning that may be referred to it

b) To consider and recommend to UTLSEC policies and procedures necessary to maintain and enhance the academic standards and teaching quality of all programmes of study (including CPD), wherever they are delivered, taking account of international, national and regional developments.

c) To identify and disseminate examples of exemplary practice in teaching and learning.
