Standards and Quality Advisory Group (SQuAd)

A sub-committee of University Learning, Teaching and Student Experience Committee

This group assumed the remit of Quality and Standards Sub-Committee, following its disestablishment by ULTSEC in July 2011.

Terms of Reference

a) To consider on behalf of ULTSEC any matters relating to the quality and standards of teaching and learning within the University, monitoring progress, and reporting to ULTSEC on institutional issues and themes arising from:

  • Internal Subject Review reports
  • Annual Monitoring and Review reports from FLTSECs
  • Summaries from FTLSECs of External Examiners' reports and issues identified through the University's oversight of External Examiners' reports
  • Submissions to and reports from the QAA and Professional, Statutory and Regulatory Bodies (PSRBs), and responses from Boards of Studies and FLTSECs
  • Student surveys
  • Other matters relating to quality and standards in teaching and learning that may be referred to it

b) To consider and recommend to ULTSEC policies and procedures necessary to maintain and enhance the academic standards and teaching quality of all programmes of study, wherever they are delivered, taking account of international, national and regional developments.

c) To identify and disseminate examples of exemplary practice in learning and teaching.
