Research Services

Central support for research is provided by the University Research Office (URO) and the Joint Research Office (JRO)
Our main responsibilities are to:
- support the costing and internal application process by advising on funder requirements, costing, pricing, authorising and submitting applications via electronic submission systems
- negotiate all types of research contracts with a wide variety of collaborators and funders
- contribute to, and provide support for, research strategy and policy development, and to champion its implementation
- provide internal management information on research related activities analysing trends and submitting to the planning process
- provide research funding intelligence (internal access only), opportunities and targeted support to faculties and support for strategic bids and initiatives to the PVC (R&I)
- provide the key institutional link with research funders (internal access only) including keeping abreast of, and advising on, funders' strategies and policies
- manage and support any internal and external reviews of research including the REF strategy, planning and submission
- promote the responsible conduct of research and compliance with funder requirements including policy development, implementation and training
- develop and manage research management systems including MyProjects and MyImpact
