This Knowledge Transfer Secondments (KTS) grant will provide funding to help ensure the exploitation of the research funded by EPSRC at Newcastle University. It will operate on the principle that the best way to transfer knowledge is to transfer people. Based on the Research Assistants Industrial Secondments (RAIS) scheme previously available from EPSRC, it will allow movement of skilled people both into and out of Newcastle University.
KTS funding will be used to support secondments of staff previously employed on an EPSRC grant or grants, to enable them to take their results further on towards application by users. KTS funds may also be used for inward secondments, supporting a specific research project carried out in the HEI by someone employed by a user organisation. In all cases there will be a strong connection between the secondment activities and one or more EPSRC-funded research projects.
Important factors in deciding whether or not to pursue a KTS:
The application process for a KTS (outwards and inwards) has been designed to be light touch. However, it is important that appropriate university staff and end-users are consulted in the early stages of proposal development.
Please refer to the Applicant Guidelines (PDF: 85KB) and Knowledge Transfer Secondment Terminology Explained (PDF: 60KB)
For outward secondments, please complete and submit the Outward Secondment of University personnel into User Organisation Application Form.
There will be several closing dates throughout the year.
KTS Steering Committee are held quarterly throughout the year.
