Collaboration with International Institutions

Statement of policy: maintenance of international collaborations

Where a collaborator institution or an appropriate national or international regulatory authority determines that work of a particular type or on a particular species at a partner institution should be suspended, Newcastle University will suspend any collaboration on such work with the partner institution.

Max Planck Institute, Tübingen

Following a recent unauthorised investigation, BUAV has made allegations about the conduct of primate research at the Max Plank Institute (MPI), Tübingen. A subsequent independent inquiry commissioned by MPI and led by the Head of the German Primate Centre has found no evidence of misconduct in animal research at MPI Tübingen.  The Institute is governed by current EU legislation.

BUAV has recently alleged the involvement of two Newcastle University scientists in work on primates at that establishment. The University rejects any suggestion that its staff have been involved in inappropriate treatment of animals.
