Research in Fine Art at Newcastle includes practice-based and theoretical research in Fine Art, Art History, Curatorship and Digital Media.
We are proud of the international profiles of our staff, research fellows and research students who have created cutting-edge exhibitions, events, installations, videos, films and publications, a selection of which can be seen here. We vigorously promote the development of a dynamic and cohesive research environment and support a rich diversity of practice-based research activity. As well as developing strengths in traditional Fine Art disciplines, research at Newcastle engages with innovative research in contemporary practice, including digital and time-based art, collaborative practice, installation, critical engagement with the art museum and gallery and approaches to curating contemporary art.
