Sally Keith

Associate Lecturer in Public Relations

Background

 Sally Keith Keith is an Associate Lecturer in Public Relations, a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations and a CIPR Accredited Pracitioner.  She is also a Chartered Marketer and Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing 

She has been successfully running Sally Keith - In Her Own Write since 1996, serving clients across the UK.  The consultancy works with a broad range of public and private sector organisations to deliver and implement strategic communications programmes. Clients range from commercial enterprises such as The Alchemists and Northumbrian Water plc to public and charity sector organisations such as the NHS and Tyneside Cinema.   She has devised and run training courses for clients and is currently working with Gentoo and a national mental health charity.

Before establishing her own practice Sally was a partner in David Sheppard and Associates then the largest PR and marketing consultancy in the NE which was ranked in PR Week’s top 20 UK consultancies. Here she was responsible for a wide range of regional and national accounts from KPMG to NHS Trusts and the UK launch of M&Ms for Mars Confectionary, the first time the company had used PR for a product launch.

Her interest in teaching began in the 1990s when she taught on Sheffield University’s Business Management and Organization undergraduate degree and the CIM Diploma.  She currently teaches on the CIPR Foundation Award, the CAM Diploma in Digital Marketing, the DMI’s Diploma in Digital Marketing and the CIM’s Postgraduate Professional Diploma.

Sally is a past Chair of CIPR North East and served on the national council between 2009 and 2012, where she was a member of the Policy and Campaigns Committee.  She is the co-author of the CIPR Internship and Work Placement Toolkit - a must read for all PR students.

Sally is particularly proud of the TwitFace Award for social media she received in the region’s  Alternative Business Awards!
