Sarah supports research activity by assisting colleagues in the preparation of external funding bids, supports the School Research Committee and School Director of Research, and assists with the financial and HR management of successful research accounts.
Her engagement role builds on experience gained in the Newcastle Institute for Arts, Social Sciences and Humanities (NIASSH), where she helped to establish the Institute and organise conferences and other research events.
She is the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences Co-ordinator for the Mentoring for Administrative and Professional Staff (MAPS) Scheme.
She has worked for Newcastle University for more than 10 years, initially working in Research and Innovation Services for the Grants and Contracts teams, before becoming Administrator for the newly formed Newcastle Institute for the Arts, Social Sciences and Humanities. She was involved in the Culture Lab project almost from conception and managed the £4million SRIF funded project to ensure that it came in on budget and within remit, from the early stages of identifying and establishing the User Group and dealing with internal and external parties, through to its opening and beyond. She acted as Administrator for Culture Lab, managing the staff, facilities, budget and was instrumental in the organisation of new and existing research initiatives.
She graduated with an LLB (Hons) in 2005, having studied part time with the University of Northumbria, and has completed many vocational and office related training courses.
She now works part time and can be contacted between 8 and 5 on a Monday, Tuesday and Thursday.
