A one-day course designed to help teachers discover and start using GIS

Geographical Information Systems (GIS) have taken their place as one of the key topics students learn within GCSE and A level Geography programmes. But GIS can be used in other subjects too. This one-day course introduces the basic GIS skills, software and shows you cool ways of incorporating GIS into your teaching. You will go away with plenty of resources, ideas and even GIS on a Stick!

To be eligible for the course you must be working as a secondary school teacher.

Objectives and Outline

GIS for Teachers

During this one day course, you will:

  • be introduced to common software packages
  • discover activities you can use in the classroom
  • learn about the online resources available
  • find out how GIS can be used across the curriculum
