Environmental Engineering

Newcastle University has a strong history of innovation in environmental engineering for developed and developing countries, stretching back over 50 years. This innovation continues in the research we conduct today.

Environmental Engineering uses the best principles of science and engineering to assess and mitigate pollution, for the benefit of health and the environment. The subject requires an understanding of biology, chemistry, physics, engineering, socio-economics and legislation. We pursue solutions for the sustainable provision of clean air, land and water.

A vibrant multi-disciplinary group, we bring together expertise from engineers, scientists, and social scientists. We are supported by excellent facilities, and conduct research at all scales, from the ribosome to the river-basin, for now and the future.
