Introduction

I work within the Faculty of Science, Agriculture and Engineering as part of the recruitment team. The main focus of my job is to increase awareness of and engagement with engineering from an early age, in order for youngsters to make informed decisions relating to GCSE, A-level and Higher Education choices.  As part of this, I work closely with the University’s five engineering schools in organising on-campus events showcasing the different streams of engineering.  I also co-ordinate a number of events for the Royal Academy of Engineering’s ‘Best Programme’, which includes a mixture of one day events, week-long residentials and six month projects. All of which are aimed at introducing youngsters to the core concepts of engineering and raising awareness of the careers available in this exciting sector.

Within the University, I support the following schools in student recruitment and school liaison

  • School of Chemical Engineering and Advanced Materials
  • School of Civil Engineering and Geosciences
  • School of Electrical, Electronic and Computer Engineering
  • School of Marine Science and Technology
  • School of Mechanical and Systems Engineering
