Facilities

The Robinson Library is the University's main library:

  • Oustanding facilities in SAgE.open for daytime and evening use, with extended opening hours during exam periods
  • seating for 2,000 people (including group study rooms)
  • 200 networked computer workstations , with word processing, statistical and database software
  • over 1 million books and 5,000 periodicals, with growing numbers of electronic resources
  • an extensive collection of texts, periodicals, tapes and CD Roms that support the teaching of our modules.

The Library has a well-provided film section, and provides a full range of borrowing facilities, an inter-library loans system, co-operative arrangements for access to other local academic libraries, and computers linked to the University computer network.

The University has an excellent computing service, with over 300 fully networked Windows XP computers in 44 clusters (including halls of residence), many with 24-hour access. The University also employs a virtual learning environment.

We also offer excellent english language support and an Open Access Centre offering excellent different language learning facilities. Students also have access to Maths-Aid and the Writing Development Centre.
