Training for Research Postgraduates

Welcome to the Faculty of Science Agriculture and Engineering’s Postgraduate Researcher Development Programme (2012-2013).

Programme Aims

The primary aim of the Postgraduate Researcher Development Programme is to help research students develop the skills and experience that the UK Research Councils expect you to have, or to develop, during the course of your research degree. These are described in the Researcher Development Framework.

Training in research skills and techniques, which is key to all successful research, largely occurs in your Schools and Institutes, through interaction with your supervisory team, other researchers and technicians. The Researcher Development Programme complements this technical training and focuses on wider employment-related skills.

Useful information on studying for a research degree and planning your career can also be found at the Vitae Researcher's Portal.
