
Newcastle University has a long history of working with the Armed Forces and is proud to be one of only six universities to host the MoD's Defence Technical Undergraduate Scheme (DTUS) that trains the next generation of Engineers for HM Forces.
In addition to training those about to enter the services, Newcastle University also trains mature students who have recently left the forces, to first and postgraduate degree levels.

Newcastle University is a registered ELCAS provider enabling service personnel to receive discounted or even free training.
In the last Service Personnel Command Paper, the Ministry of Defence announced that Personnel who serve more than 6 years will be entitled to state education free from tuition fees when they leave. This means that Service leavers who wish to progress further will have their tuition fees for a first Foundation or full degree paid.
