Choosing Study Abroad at Newcastle

Newcastle University is part of the Russell Group - a collection of 16 leading research-intensive universities in England. Our research is of a world-class standard; in the last RAE, 40 out of the University's 45 areas of research were graded as nationally or internationally leading.

You can choose from a vast range of modules to study, and benefit from full student membership of the University; our great sports facilities, 24-hour internet access, personal e-mail account, and many Union Society societies and clubs. We have a dedicated Study Abroad Secretary, and a comprehensive welfare service. You'll also have a personal academic adviser who can help with academic issues.

  • City centre location - but close to both countryside and coast
Our campus is in the city centre and our accommodation is situated close by. Newcastle is a bustling city with major high street and designer shops, but is unique with near by beautiful countryside, with Hadrian's Wall, just minutes away. A short Metro-ride can take you to the dramatic Northumbrian coast, and the region has low cost of living, helping your funds last longer!
  • A cultural experience
Newcastle is a dynamic city, full of theatres, cinemas, music venues, art galleries, museums, and sporting attractions (Newcastle Football Club is one of the nation's favourite soccer teams). There are even art galleries and museums on campus.
  • An excellent base to travel around Europe
With an international airport Newcastle is easily accessible and ideal for exploring Europe. The Union Society has its own Travel Shop for help, advice or buying tickets. The city's Metro service is similar to the London underground, enabling you to easily travel across the city and its surrounding areas. From the central train station you can get to London in less than three hours.
