Seaweeds and health – involved in assessment of the potential health benefits of seaweeds and seaweed isolates using in vitro and participant study platforms in both the UK and South East Asia. |

Assuring safety / improving quality /extending shelf-life of food products -
Research interests include monitoring of cyanogens in cassava (tapioca) and processing / transportation of tropical fruits. I also have experience of problem-focused consultancy work with food SMEs. Developing-country nutrition - I have recently been investigating the links between nutrition and cognitive development in children in Malawi (Southern Africa), and am keen to continue / extend my work in this and related areas. Consumer behaviour & metabolic syndrome - I have been researching the perceived risk of Metabolic Syndrome and attitudes towards fat-modified foods among European consumers, and would like to explore this area in the Singapore context. |

Social Marketing - developing strategies for evaluating the use of marketing techniques used for the social good in community health settings, which will enable agencies to understand the effectiveness of their interventions or campaigns. Service Delivery - working with health authorities and pharmacists in the UK to consider the strategies and barriers to uptake of consumers accessing a community based public health campaign via community pharmacists. Student Transition – considering how best to support students from a non-standard background entering the UK Higher Education system. Accredited Work Related Learning – having worked in this area for over 10 years in the UK Higher Education System, interested in seeing how it could work in the Singapore environment and which models might be most appropriate. |
